Director, Curriculum Services

About the Position

We are currently seeking a Director, Curriculum Services to join the Pivot team. This position will be responsible for managing projects in our Curriculum Program that support the adoption and implementation of high‐quality instructional materials in service of equitable student outcomes.   

This position will be responsible for managing multi‐year projects to support implementation of high‐quality mathematics and literacy curricula in multiple school districts across the country. In addition to working directly with the districts, this project also focuses on further developing our model of high‐quality curriculum implementation support. 

This is a full‐time, Exempt position, reporting to a Senior Director, Curriculum Services. Candidates for this position can be based anywhere in the US; this is a remote role based out of your home office. This position will require regular travel to client sites across the country, and to Pivot/CORE internal meetings and events.  Please note that Pivot requires vaccination against COVID-19 for all employees and consultants.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Partnership & Account Management. Drives projects from launch through achievement of all deliverables including district and school level instructional leadership support. Develop and track project goals and manage project plans. Coordinate with colleagues, including our subsidiary CORE and support staff, to effectively scope, manage, align, and improve services provided to our district clients at all levels (district, principal, teacher, coach). This includes supporting districts in understanding grant deliverables, funder-required reporting, partnering with grant program officers and attendance at funder‐led meetings. 
  • Partnership Development & Success. Develop and/or maintain partnerships with school district clients and other key partners. This includes meeting regularly with partner organizations to ensure coherent support to district clients, aligned to project goals and plans. 
  • Service Delivery. Prepare for, facilitate, and follow‐up from professional learning events, small group, and 1:1 work sessions with clients and partners (virtual or in‐person). This includes agenda creation and co‐developing materials for district teams and partners. 
  • Product Development. In collaboration with internal and external partners, play a supporting role in the ongoing development of our overall curriculum adoption and implementation model. This includes defining the specific processes, tools, and other resources that make up the model, and testing them with district clients and partners to ensure quality, sustainability, and scalability.    
  • Data Collection, Analysis, & Evaluation. Collaborate with district clients and partners to develop and execute measurement and evaluation plans for their district work, supporting districts to collect, analyze, and make decisions to improve their work and reach project goals. This will include collecting data to meet grant requirements. In addition, collaborate with the research and evaluation team at Pivot to evaluate the impact of this work, and make ongoing refinements. This may include data collection, analysis, writing, and reporting/presenting our data. 
  • Communications & Marketing. Play a key role in developing and implementing communications for Pivot’s curriculum adoption & implementation services.  This may include developing written content, presenting our work through webinars or conferences, communicating about our work through social media, and joining conversations with prospective clients. 
  • Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration. Play a key role in fostering collaboration across Pivot Learning leveraging the collective talents of team members to accomplish common goals and implement processes of improvement.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • A passion for Pivot’s vision and mission, a commitment to public education as a key lever for opportunity, and a desire to deepen the organization’s impact. A deep understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias, and how inequities impact equitable outcomes for students most underserved by our education system. 
  • Experience working in and/or with K–12 education via Local Education Agencies (county offices, districts, or charters), especially those systems that implement high quality ELA and Math curricula in service of equitable student outcomes. Leadership experience at the site or district level required.
  • Familiarity with research regarding curriculum quality and implementation and Common Core State Standards. Familiarity with education policy nationally is a plus. 
  • Very strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage project plans, set priorities, manage self and a diverse group of stakeholders to deadlines and deliverables, manage “up” and “across” regardless of positional authority, and ensure achievement of project goals. 
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to inform project decisions, future programming, or policy decisions.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work with diverse groups and individuals, and with educators and partner organizations. This includes the ability to support and coach district and school-level leaders.
  • Superb facilitation skills, including the capacity to facilitate meetings, trainings, workshops, and technical assistance engagements (e.g., professional learning sessions, coaching).   
  • Strong content development skills, including developing meeting materials, training and/or workshop materials, and/or other support materials (e.g., toolkits, resource libraries) and developing polished products for the longer term.  Excellent writing skills. 
  • Proficiency in project management tools or track record of learning similar tools quickly (e.g., Asana); proficiency with Microsoft/Google Suites, particularly Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis and PowerPoint/Google Slides for communication/facilitation; experience with Stata a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7‐10 years of relevant work experience required.  
  • Travel is required for this role (up to 65% time).
