Program Manager, Curriculum Adoption and Implementation - CA Districts

We are currently seeking a Program Manager to work with district and school leaders, as well as partners, in the implementation of our equitable mathematics curriculum and instruction model from the systems level to the classroom. The Program Manager will be working with up to 3 districts in California on the launch and implementation of newly adopted high-quality instructional materials or the improvement of already adopted high-quality materials.

This is a full-time, Exempt position, reporting to a Vice President or Director on the Curriculum Adoption and Implementation team. Candidates for this position can be based anywhere in the US, and this position will be based from your own home office. Pivot is headquartered in Oakland, CA, however, all staff are currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel (car and/or air) will likely be required for this role, primarily to client sites in California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnership Development and Management. Develop and/or maintain partnerships with school district clients, school site leaders, and other key partners, including providing coaching and support to leaders.
  • Project Design. Work with the districts to finalize the overall scope. Work with the districts to develop instructional vision and goals, strategy, and plans for their curriculum implementation initiative. This includes working with the district to develop their professional learning strategy and plans.
  • Project Management. Collaborate with each district to drive the work from scoping through launch and achievement of all deliverables, including developing and tracking a project plan.
  • Meeting Facilitation & Materials Development. Plan, facilitate, and follow up from meetings and events with district clients, school sites, and partners.
  • Data Collection, Analysis, & Evaluation. Collaborate with the internal Pivot research and evaluation staff and district clients and partners to develop and execute measurement plans for evaluating the work, supporting the collection and analysis of data, developing reports, and supporting clients to make decisions to improve their work and reach project goals.
  • Communications and Stakeholder Engagement. Support the districts to develop strategies and plans to communicate with stakeholders and engage for feedback actively. This might include advising on messaging, supporting collateral development, and supporting stakeholder feedback collection and next steps.
  • Quality Assurance. Effectively manage and improve the services provided to our clients at all levels. This includes leveraging quality assurance processes and structures and providing quality assurance for all services offered.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A passion for Pivot’s vision and mission, a commitment to public education as a key lever for equity, and a desire to deepen the organization’s impact. A deep understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias and how inequities impact outcomes for students most underserved by our education system.
  • Experience working in and/or with K–12 education via Local Education Agencies (state departments of education, county offices or regions, districts, or charters), especially those systems that implement high-quality Math and ELA curricula in service of equitable student outcomes.
  • Familiarity with research regarding curriculum quality, curriculum implementation, and Math and ELA instruction and Common Core State Standards (as well as specific state standards, as applicable). Familiarity with specific high-quality instructional materials is a plus.
  • Very strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage project plans, set priorities, manage self and a diverse group of stakeholders to deadlines and deliverables, manage “up” and “across” regardless of positional authority, and ensure achievement of project goals.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to inform project decisions, future programming, or policy decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work with diverse groups and individuals, and with educators and partner organizations.
  • Superb facilitation skills, including the capacity to facilitate meetings, trainings, workshops, and technical assistance engagements (e.g., professional learning sessions, coaching).
  • Strong content development skills, including developing meeting materials, training and/or workshop materials, and/or other support materials (e.g., toolkits, resource libraries) and developing polished final products. Excellent writing skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools or track record of learning similar tools quickly (e.g., Asana); proficiency with Microsoft/Google Suites, particularly Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis and PowerPoint/Google Slides for communication/facilitation; experience with Stata a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of relevant work experience required.
